About Aaron Wilkins
A huge amount of my time growing up was spent playing sports. I played basketball through high school and baseball through my sophomore year of college. There were also the games with friends - basketball, football, Wiffle Ball, home run derby, tennis, ping pong. You name it, we played it. Sports were and continue to be one of my biggest passions.
I've recently turned 40, and I say it with pride that I still spend 2-3 hours every week playing sports. Softball in the summer and fall, and basketball in the fall/winter/spring. I also take pride in knowing that I'm stronger and more athletic now than I've ever been, and that I perform better than most everyone else around my age not because I'm more talented, but simply because I'm in better physical health. My goal is to still be playing, and playing well, at least into my 70's.
Through training and eating for longevity, I've come to realize there is an even more important benefit than being able to continue playing the sports I love. I realize that any physical task that life throws at me comes pretty easily. Things we tend to take for granted like climbing a ladder, getting up from the floor without support, or walking up and down a flight of stairs. I live my life with an eye on my healthspan - the period of my life during which I remain in good health, free from chronic illnesses, disabilities, and functional limitations. I don't want to live out my final years in chronic pain, dealing with a chronic illness, or anything else that prevents me from being independent and happy, and able to be an active parent and (maybe one day) grandparent. That is my hope for everyone that trains with Longevity Strength + Fitness, as well.
So cheers to living long, living well, and living happy!
